Product Description
This set of five plates is part of the KOMON series, which takes traditional Japanese patterns (komon) and reinterprets them with a modern aesthetic. Each motif carries its own meaning, representing centuries of hopes for happiness, prosperity, and good fortune. These patterns have been cherished and nurtured through generations.
Motifs & Meanings:
Yabane (Arrow Feathers) – Traditionally given as a kimono pattern at weddings to wish for a happy marriage, as arrows do not return once released.
Shippo (Seven Treasures) – Interlocking circles symbolizing harmony, wealth, and an unbroken lineage.
Asanoha (Hemp Leaves) – Inspired by the straight, strong growth of hemp plants, this pattern is often used on baby clothing to wish for healthy growth.
Amime (Net) – A net pattern symbolizing eternity and the act of “scooping up fortune.”
Seigaiha (Blue Ocean Waves) – Waves shaped like fans, representing endless happiness and prosperity, inspired by the infinite expanse of the ocean.
