This 5-piece set of small plates is part of the KOMON series, which reinterprets traditional Japanese patterns (komon) with a modern design. Each motif carries its own meaning, developed and cherished over centuries as symbols of happiness, prosperity, and good fortune.

Motifs & Seasonal Meanings:

Ume & Crane (Spring) – Combines plum blossoms, a sign of spring’s arrival, with cranes, a beloved symbol of longevity.

Maronami (Summer) – Waves, representing the sea as the source of life, symbolize the repetition of joyful events.

Rice Ears (Autumn) – Rice, believed since ancient times to be inhabited by deities, is a sacred and auspicious motif often used in family crests.

Yukiwa (Winter) – Snow represents a heavenly sign of abundance; the snowflake design also evokes coolness in the summer.
